Mission and Outreach
Mission
God calls us to serve those around us, giving of our time and resources freely. Needs are always changing, so we will strive to keep this page updated with our current mission projects.
Haiti Educational Mission Partnership (HEMP) - Formed in July 2009, the HEMP team is composed of three Central New York churches within the Cayuga-Syracuse Presbytery (Pebble Hill Presbyterian, United Church of Fayetteville, and Park Central Presbyterian). HEMP partners with the Oregon-based non-profit Vibrant Village to provide a daily lunch for 300 children. HEMP works in partnership with the non-profit FEED, a French acronym for "Foundation for the Development of Children at Risk." Together, they provide food, scholarships, teacher training, adult literacy, and healthcare to the community of Paulette, Haiti. HEMP is also supported financially by other area churches and by French Clubs throughout the United States. You can support HEMP by mailing a check to Park Central with "Haiti scholarships" in the memo line.
Latin America Mission Partnership (LAMP) - Formed in 2004, LAMP unites our local Presbytery with the Campechano Presbytery in Mexico. Over the years, this partnership has expanded to additional US and Mexican Presbyteries. This partnership's work includes home and seminary construction, hurricane recovery, and education. Aside from the good work done in Campeche, one of the real blessings of this ministry is the camaraderie of meals, music, and laughter shared across cultures. You can support the work of this ministry by mailing a check to the church with "LAMP" in the memo line.
Ugandan Mission Work - For several years, Park Central has supported one of our members in traveling to the poor and remote villages of Uganda to minister and provide support to youth, women, and men who have been or who are victims of abuse. During the country's strict COVID lockdown, Park Central partnered with Favoured Evangelical International Ministries and Home of Praise Church in Uganda to provide cleaning supplies and masks, bags of maize, and words of hope to the people in the villages. We also worked with them to build a home for a poor widow and her children. We look forward to growing this mission.
